Description
Beautiful heavy sterling silver medal by Tiffany & Company in its original case named to Dr. Matia Duque, who eventually became the Director of Public Health in Cuba, and was obviously well-connected. The planchet is in the shape of a Maltese cross features a US Shield at the center in nice raised detail and surrounding it reads: "SANTA CLARA CUBA 1898". The reverse reads: "MATIA DUQUE XIV" and below the maker's mark: "TIFFANY & CO. STERLING".
VINTAGE:Circa 1900
SIZE:Approximately 2-3/4" in height and 1-1/2" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Sterling silver, silk; cardboard, velvet.
ATTACHMENT:Horizontal T-style pin on bar with C catch, ribbon, suspension loop.

CONDITION:8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The medal shows very little wear and only some light tarnish; case has some light wear to outside.
