ARTIFACT: Beautiful and scarce 1952 AMA (American Motorcycle Association) Gypsy Tour participant award ashtray made of SAFEX glass. The center of the octagonal ashtray shows the AMA emblem in red and below reads: "GYPSY TOUR 1952" and the reverse reads: "SAFEX" in embossed lettering. Gypsy Tours officially began in 1917 under the Federation of American Motorcyclists, and were fun outings where bikers would travel great distances toward a common rendezvous point. The American Motorcycle Association (AMA) took over the Gypsy Tours in 1925.

CONDITION: 8+ (Excellent): The ashtray shows minor to moderate wear, a couple of minor flakes to the inner ends of the cigarette holders do not detract, otherwise in excellent condition.
