Description
This is a 1920s octagonal lapel pin for five years of service with Curtiss Aeroplane & Motor Company, founded by early aviator Glenn Curtiss. Curtiss Aeroplane and Curtiss Motor Company had both been independent companies in the 1910s, and they merged in 191This entity later became part of the Curtiss-Wright Corporation in 192Curtiss manufactured seaplanes and other craft, working with the United States Navy in the early days of military aviation and also with allies Canada and Britain. The pin is by Whitehead & Hoag.
VINTAGE:Circa 1920s.
SIZE:Approximately 9/16" in height and 9/16" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:1/10 10 karat gold-filled, enamel.
ATTACHMENT:Vertical pin with drop-in locking swivel catch.
MARKINGS:WH (Whitehead & Hoag) maker mark, 1/10-10 KT. GOLD FILLED.

CONDITION:8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The pin shows only light wear and tarnish with all enamel intact; pin is slightly kinked, but still latches.
