ARTIFACT:
This is a beautiful English-made World War I United States Air Service pilot jacket. It has an excellent Dallas wing and two overseas stripes. There are also two winged propeller collar insignia, two US insignia and two bars on the shoulder tabs. The jacket has an interior pocket and a Noel & Co. of Southhampton manufacturer's label.
VINTAGE:
Circa World War I.
SIZE:
No size tag. Approximately 17" (armpit to armpit), 23" from shoulder seam to end of cuff, 15" across back shoulder to shoulder and about 27"" from base of collar to hem. Wing is about 1" by 3-9/16".
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Wool with brass buttons, cotton lining, embroidery tape; wing: silver, wool; insignia: plated brass; ribbon bars: silk-wrapped cardboard, brass; stripes: wool with embroidery tape.
ATTACHMENT:
Buttons, one rectangular loop at collar; buttons on pockets, two clips on reverse; buttons on shoulder tabs; pins on insignia; pin with swivel catch on wing.

CONDITION:
8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The jacket has one small hole on the reverse of the left sleeve; the lining is in very good shape with one small hole at left armpit; some insignia and wing have areas of tarnishing.
