ARTIFACT:
This is a Beautiful circa 1910 Great Lakes Passenger Steamship S.S. Theodore Roosevelt Officer Badge.
SS Theodore Roosevelt was a passenger steamer built in 1906 at Toledo, Ohio, by the Toledo Shipbuilding Company, and operated commercially on Lake Michigan. Ordered taken over by the U.S. Navy on 6 April 1918 for WWI service as a troop stransport, she was acquired by the US Navy from the Roosevelt Steamship Company sometime in the spring of 1918, assigned Identification Number 478, and fitted out as a troop transport during the summer and fall of 1918.
VINTAGE:
Circa 1917.
SIZE:
Approximately 2-3/4" in height x 2-3/4" in width.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Nickel-plated brass with painted lettering.
ATTACHMENT:
Vertical safety-style pin.
