Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a beautiful Japanese-made submarine patch for the USS Volador SS-490, whose keel was laid down on June 15, 1945 at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. Work on the submarine came to a halt in January of the next year but resumed, with some technological upgrades, in 194She was launched May 21, 1948.

VINTAGE:

Circa 1960's.

SIZE:

About 5" in diameter.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Fully embroidered with cotton/poly/silk embroidery thread.

ATTACHMENT:

To be sewn onto garment.
