Description
This is a beautiful Nazi Army officer's sword by Eickhorn in the Blücher pattern with a 33" blade. Topping the sword is the magnificent head of a golden lion, with ruby glass eyes and a mane giving way to oak leaves. Below the leaves is a blank oval meant for a monogram engraving. There is also an eagle with a swastika spanning the crossguard. The blade bears the squirrel logo of Eichorn, dating the sword to circa 1935-1941, and the underside of the hilt has a patent mark.
VINTAGE:Circa 1935-1941.
SIZE:Overall: approximately 38" in length; sword only: 35-1/2" by 5"; blade only: 32-3/4" by 3/4" (at widest part); scabbard only: 35-1/4" by 1".
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Gilt brass, steel, painted steel, celluloid over wood or Bakelite handle, glass.
ATTACHMENT:Ring on scabbard.
MARKINGS:EICHORN SOLINGEN with squirrel logo at top of blade; DRP (patent mark) under hilt.

CONDITION:8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The gilding to the sword top has mostly been polished off; blade is wonderful condition; scabbard has some small spots of wear.
