Beautiful 1914 German Sanitärshunde Table Medal by Goetz in Feinsilber
$875.00
Product Description
ARTIFACT: This medal is a 1914 German SanitŠtshunde Table Medal. The word, SanitŠtshunde, translates literally to "Sanitary Dog", but can also mean "Medic Dog." The British refer to them as "Mercy Dogs." The large-scale use of dogs in war times was implemented in WWI. This medal was made by the famous German Medallic Artist, Goetz, who produced prolific amounts of medals from pre-WWI through early WWII. This medal, in any format, is rare; though in "Feinsliber," a chemically pure, 1000/1000 silver material, a medal like this is particularly rare. There is a really nice maker mark on the edge that reads "BAYER. HAUPTMUNZAMPT. FIENSILBER."
