ARTIFACT:

This is a gorgeous World War II Australian-made jacket patch for the United States 823rd Bomb Squadron, 38th Bomb Group, 5th Air Force. Among other duties, the 823rd flew B-25 aircraft in the South Pacific. The patch is hand-embroidered on wool and shows a tiger with blood dripping from its fangs.

VINTAGE:

Circa World War II.

SIZE:

Approximately 4-15/16" in diameter.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Wool hand-embroidered in silk/cotton threads with treated paper backing.
