ARTIFACT: This is a circa 1890s Jockey Club stopwatch timer, which also has wristwatch capability. Founded on February 9, 1894 in New York, the Jockey Club was a group of thoroughbred breeders and owners wanting to bring some regulation to the sport of horse racing. The stopwatch hand is deployed by sliding the rectangular button near the top of the watch to one side, and then can be reset by pushing in the round button on the opposite side. There is an engraved Jockey Club logo on the reverse of the watch.

VINTAGE: Circa 1890s.

SIZE: Face is approximately 2-1/4" in diameter (top ring is 1" in height) and 3/4" in thickness.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Plated brass, glass.

ATTACHMENT: Hinge; suspension loop, rectangular loops for wrist band.
