ARTIFACT:
This is the first Japan Air Lines (JAL) employee lapel badge in unmarked silver. The badge is numbered and has characters on its reverse, and the logo design is a clever juxtaposition of the letters J A L resembling the oncoming nose of an airplane.
VINTAGE:
Circa 1951-1952.
SIZE:
Approximately 1-1/4" in width and 1/2" in height.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Silver with enamel.
ATTACHMENT:
Single screw post with disc backing.
MARKINGS:
4038 and characters; STERLING on backing.
