This is the first Japan Air Lines (JAL) employee lapel badge in unmarked silver. The badge is numbered and has characters on its reverse, and the logo design is a clever juxtaposition of the letters J A L resembling the oncoming nose of an airplane.
VINTAGE:Circa 1951-1952.
SIZE:Approximately 1-1/4" in width and 1/2" in height.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Silver with enamel.
ATTACHMENT:Single screw post with disc backing.
MARKINGS:4038 and characters; STERLING on backing.

CONDITION:8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The badge shows light wear and has an overall tarnish, with a slight ding to the enamel.
