ARTIFACT:

1970's VMFA-314 United States Marine Corps Jacket Patch, Japanese made. The Marine Fighter Attack Squadron, also known as the "Black Knights" flew the McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom during the 1970's. In September 1970, VMFA-314 ended forty-nine months of deployed combat operations and received the Meritorious Unit Commendation for its outstanding performance. Patch reads: BLACK KNIGHTS and depicts the squadron emblem of a knights helmet and designation VMFA-314.

Embroidered on twill, silk/cotton/polyester threads.
