ARTIFACT:

This is a circa 1960s member lapel pin for the Newark, New Jersey Police Department "Bronze Shield" Association. Established in 1959, the "Bronze Shields", as they are now known, is an African American association within the Newark Police Department.

VINTAGE:

Circa 1960s.

SIZE:

Approximately 5/8" in height and 5/8" in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Gilt brass, painted details.

ATTACHMENT:

Post with covered clutch-back catch, stabilization tooth.

MARKINGS:
