ARTIFACT:
This is a beer can DI made in the Republic of Vietnam for the United States Air Force Big Eye Task Force Electronic Surveillance Unit. The Big Eye detachment, deployed to Southeast Asia in April 1965, was an airborne radar platform responsible for various liaison and support work. In July 1967, Big Eye was renamed College Eye Task Force. The DI reads BIG-EYE VIET NAM and shows an eye with a sun and plane within its pupil at its center.
VINTAGE:
Circa 1960s.
SIZE:
Approximately 1-3/16" in height and 15/16" in width.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Acid etched brass, nickel-plated with painted details.
ATTACHMENT:
Two posts with plastic clutch-backs.

CONDITION:
8 (Excellent-): The DI shows little wear with some minor marks on the reverse only.
