Description
This is a circa 1960s or 1970s restrike of a beret badge for the French Foreign Legion 2nd Régiment, Mounted Infantry (2° REI/Cie Montée, or Regiment Etranger d'Infanterie/Compagnie Montée). The regiment was so named in October 1930, and retained this name even after their horses gave way to machines. The regiment was disbanded in 194The badge was made by Arthus Bertrand of Paris.
VINTAGE:Circa 1960s-1970s.
SIZE:Approximately 1-5/16" in height and 15/16" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Plated brass, enamel.
ATTACHMENT:Vertical safety-style pin with round saddle.
MARKINGS:A.B. PARIS on reverse of badge; ARTHUS BERTRAND PARIS 46 RUE DE RENNES on saddle.
