Description
This is a circa 1960s-1970s blazer badge for the Doolittle Raiders Association. The volunteer Raiders accompanied General James H. "Jimmy" Doolittle on his famous "Tokyo Raid" of April 18, 194Doolittle received the Medal of Honor for conceiving of and carrying out his secret and successful five-pronged Japanese bombing mission. The shield-shaped badge is hand-embroidered in silk and bullion, and bears the motto TOUJOURS AU DANGER (Always to danger).
VINTAGE:Circa 1960s-1970s.
SIZE:Approximately 3-3/8" in height and 2-1/2" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Hand embroidered in silk and bullion thread, cloth backing.
ATTACHMENT:Four posts with clutchbacks.
