Description

ARTIFACT:

These are two letters of commendation for meritorious service issued to Patrolman John J. Donovan Division 15, accompanied by two cover letters. All four pieces are signed by the then-Commissioner of the city of Boston Police Department, Leo J. Sullivan. The letters of Commendation relate to an arson that took place in Boston and a car theft/series of robberies that took place in Medford, Cambridge and Everett. The original envelope is included in the lot and all the signatures are real, not mechanically reproduced.

Circa 1958.

Letter: 8-1/2" in width by 11" in height each; commendation: 8-1/2" in width by 15" in height each; envelope: 9-1/2" in width by 4-1/4" in height each.

Printed paper.

These letters are from a large assortment of police badges and memorabilia that I will be listing over the next few months.

CONDITION:

9 (Excellent-Near Mint): The letters and commendations show little signs of wear or aging though the envelope is well worn around the edges and would be considered around a LEEX SEEX5/11
