ARTIFACT: This is a first edition copy of "The Menace from Moresby: A Pictorial History of the 5th Air Force in World War II" by Lieutenant Colonel Russell L. Sinton. The story of the 5th Air Force is one of survival: it was built upon the remains of what was left to the Far East Air Force after the devastating Battle of the Philippines. Headquartered in Australia, the 5th was born on February 5, 1942. The book has several interesting black and white photographs, including some great nose art shots. The book was published in 1946 by Newsfoto Publishing Company of San Angelo, Texas.

VINTAGE: Published 1946.

SIZE: Pages (unnumbered); approximately 11-3/8"e; in height and 8-1/2" in width and 7/8" in thickness.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Textured cloth-bound cover, glossy paper.

ATTACHMENT: Glued binding.

MARKINGS: Small address label for "Mrs. Pearl E. Block Epping, New Hampshire" inside front cover; Published by Newsfoto Publishing Company, San Angelo, Texas.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a World War II United States Army Air Forces unit history collection that we will be listing more of over the next few months. LADEX1/14

CONDITION: 7+ (Very Fine+): The book has some wear to the edges of the cover/spine and some signs of minor yellowing but is otherwise in very fine condition.
