ARTIFACT:
This is a circa 1945-1946 United States Army Air Forces life vest. The vest in the "Mae West" style, and has inflatable rubber bladders which give the vest its flotation capability and sex symbol shape. The interior of each side stows a canister of shark repellent and marker dye.
VINTAGE:
Circa 1945-1946.
SIZE:
Approximately 20"e; x 13"e;.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Cotton, leather, nylon/cotton straps, metal rings, rubber interior bladders.
ATTACHMENT:
Slips over head: straps, rings, interior zippers over shoulders, interior pockets with snaps.
