ARTIFACT: This is a 1944 copy of the United States Army (War Department) and Navy "A Pocket Guide to New Caledonia". This booklet deals with the culture of the native population in this French territory and Allied base, and has some useful phrases translated in the back. It has some one-color illustrations and covers many topics such as the Pacific nation's government, money and customs. Noumea, the capital, was the site of the United States Navy South Pacific headquarters during the war.

VINTAGE: Published 1944.

SIZE: 59 pages; approximately 5-1/4" in height and 4-1/2" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Oaktag cover; paper.

ATTACHMENT: Glued binding.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a WWII US Army/US Navy foreign country pocket guide collection that we will be listing more of over the next few months. VAX91 LBDX3/14

CONDITION: 7+ (Very Fine+): The book has some wear to the front cover and some minor creasing to the cover and the first few pages (seems like pages had been paperclipped together for a while).
