ARTIFACT: This is a 1944 United States Army (War Department) booklet entitled "Pocket Guide to Paris and Cities of Northern France." This is a thoughtful guide to the country, people and customs of France, with write-ups and street maps of many French cities, including Paris, Calais and Cherbourg. The author reminds the serviceman that the vibrant country described in the booklet has suffered much physical and psychological change due to the war.

VINTAGE: Published 1944.

SIZE: 86 pages with some blank "Notes" pages in the back; approximately 5-1/4" in length by 4-1/4" in height.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Oaktag cover; paper.

ATTACHMENT: Stapled binding.

MARKINGS: U.S. GOVERNMENT PRINTING OFFICE: 1944.

CONDITION: 8 (Excellent-): The book has some light wear only with a bit of oxidation on the staples at center of book.
