ARTIFACT: This is a launching ribbon for the USS Cisco SS-290 that bears the slogan Remember Pearl Harbor". Cisco was launched from Portsmouth Naval Ship Yard on December 24, 1942, though the ribbon has a 1943 date on it. USS Cisco put out on their first war patrol September 20th, but never returned. Japanese records tell of sighting a submarine leaking oil on September 28th in an area where Cisco is known to have been the only submarine then operating. Japanese records state that this submarine was sunk by bombs and depth charges, so Cisco is thus presumed to have been lost in action September 28th, 1943.

VINTAGE: Circa 1942.

SIZE: Approximately 2-1/4" in width and 5-1/4" in length.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Printed silk.

ATTACHMENT: None.

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a United States Navy collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VBJX11 LGJX9/11

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The ribbon has a pin hole and a crease but light wear otherwise.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
