ARTIFACT:
This is a nice circa 1943 issue early type United States Army Air Forces air gunner wing. This wing was originally worn by D. R. Frantz of the 544th Bomb Squadron, 384th Bomb Group, 8th Air Force. It was made from an early war or pre-war observer wing in sterling silver and has a 1942 or earlier brass pin. VINTAGE: Circa World War II (1943).
SIZE: Approximately 7/8 in height by 3-1/8 in width.
CONSTRUCTION/MATERIALS: Sterling silver, brass pin.
ATTACHMENT: Horizontal brass pin (circa 1942 or earlier) with come-under swivel locking catch.
MARKINGS: STERLING.

CONDITION: 7 (Very Fine): The wing shows some light to medium wear and areas of tarnish, mostly on reverse.
