ARTIFACT:
This is a sterling silver United States Naval Academy baseball medal by BB&B (Bailey, Banks & Biddle). It was awarded to a student named C.W. Watson in 1942 and reads UNITED STATES NAVAL ACADEMY. It bears the Academy's coat of arms, a hand holding a trident over a galley ship with oars in the water, along with its motto EX SCIENTIA TRIDENS, meaning "from knowledge, seapower".
VINTAGE:
Circa 1942.
SIZE:
1-1/4" diameter.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Sterling silver.
ATTACHMENT:
Ring link to attach to chain.
MARKINGS:
Engraving on reverse reads C.W. WATSON '44 BASEBALL '42. There is also a BB&B STERLING maker's mark.
