Description
This is a 1940s Western Airlines five years of service lapel pin in 10 karat gold with a ruby chip. Western began in 1926 as Western Air Express and merged with Transcontinental to become TWA in 1930. At this time, a portion of the company called Western Air Transport broke away, eventually becoming General Airlines and later WAL (then simply Western Airlines). The pin is shaped like a spearhead and bears a speeding Native American man's head.
VINTAGE:Circa 1940s.
SIZE:9/16" height and 1/2" width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:10 karat gold with ruby chip.
ATTACHMENT:Single screw post with disc backing.
MARKINGS:10K with maker's mark (B within a crest).
