Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a 1940s bronze grave marker for the National Association of Letter Carriers Local 590 in Keene, New Hampshire. A handful of carriers started the NALC in Milwaukee in 1889, choosing the place and time because large number of carriers were headed into town for that year's Grand Army of the Republic encampment. The marker shows a hand delivering an envelope marked USA.

VINTAGE:

Circa 1940s.

SIZE:

Approximately 6-7/8" in height and 6-7/8" in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Bronze.

ATTACHMENT:

Four brackets with screw holes for a post.
