ARTIFACT: This is a sleeve shield for the Italian Fascist Youth of Palermo. The GIL began in 1926 as the ONB (Opera Nazionale Balilla) and was renamed GIL (Giuventu Italiana del Littorio) in 1937. The sleeve shield is somewhat convex and would have been worn as a shoulder patch. It reads AVANGUARDISTI GIL PALERMO.

VINTAGE: Circa 1930s-World War II.

SIZE: Approximately 2-7/8" in height and 2-3/16" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Painted brass.

ATTACHMENT: Small holes.

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from an Italian militaria collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VCBX12 LAFJX2/12 SACEX2/12

CONDITION: 7 (Very Fine): The shield has some small areas of light to medium wear.
