Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a great circa 1920s advertising paperweight for Byers Machinery of Ravenna, Ohio. The paperweight advertises the company's patented "Bear Cat" crane (excavator). The company founder, John F. Byers, also invented an oatmeal grinder, the rights of which he sold to the fledgling Quaker Oats Mill. The paperweight is in coppered cast iron and has a great and ferocious bear cat head in relief at its center.

VINTAGE:

Circa 1920s.

SIZE:

Approximately 11/16" in height and 3-3/16" in diameter.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Coppered cast iron.
