ARTIFACT:
This is a badge given to the New Hampshire delegate to the 50th anniversary of Gettysburg, or the Great Reunion, hosted by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The badge has a bar at top showing the busts of Grant and Lee along with their respective flags. The medallion hangs from a ribbon and is in the shape of the State of New Hampshire and bears the profile of the "Old Man of the Mountain".
VINTAGE:
Circa 1913.
SIZE:
5-11/16" length and 2-1/8" width.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Bronze medal bar with painted details, bronze medallion and printed red, white and blue silk ribbon.
ATTACHMENT:
Horizontal safety-style pin.
MARKINGS:
THE WHITEHEAD & HOAG CO. NEWARK, N.J. on reverse of medal and ribbon.
