ARTIFACT: This is a circa 1894 framed Knights of Columbus membership document originally belonging to prominent Manchester, New Hampshire citizen, James F. Cavanaugh who took his first degree in 1894. The sword is a Columbus head sword awarded to Cavanaugh when he took his 4th Degree in the 1910's. The sword has a highly ornate scabbard and a bust of Christopher Columbus at the top of its handle.

VINTAGE: Circa 1894.

SIZE: Sword: approximately 35-1/2" in length and 5-1/4" in width; scabbard: approximately 29-1/2" in length and 1" in width; blade only: approximately 28-1/8" in length and 1-1/4" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Steel, brass, painted wooden handle.

ATTACHMENT: None.

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The blade is in great shape: there are some areas of light to medium wear to scabbard and handle.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
