This is an official employee badge from the 1893 Columbian Exposition in Chicago. The Exposition, also known as the Chicago World's Fair, was held in 1893, one year after the 400th anniversary of Columbus' voyage to the "New World". The badge is wreathed by laurel leaves, reading WORLD'S COLUMBIAN EXPOSITION 1893 and stamped 33769 at its center.
VINTAGE:Circa 1893.
SIZE:About 1-1/8" in diameter.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Gold-plated brass.
ATTACHMENT:Vertical pin with come-under "C" catch.
MARKINGS:Hard to read maker's mark and CHICAGO.
