ARTIFACT: This is a circa 1890s Swiss-made calendar and moon phase pocket watch in steel and 14 karat gold. The watch has the cursive initials HB in gold affixed to the reverse cover and a miniature Knights of Malta cross charm in enameled silver. The phase of the moon is determined by how much of the moon is showing between the clouds at the center of the face, and the calendar is located inside the watch, and is accessed by pushing down on the button at the top.

VINTAGE: Circa 1890s.

SIZE: Approximately 2-1/16" in diameter and 5/8" in thickness; cross charm: 7/8" by 13/16"; chain is about 16-5/8" in length (including catch).

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Steel, 14 karat gold, glass, enameled silver.

ATTACHMENT: Watch has hinge and is opened by pressing on button at top; chains, suspension loops, locking catches.

MARKINGS: CALENDRIER BREVETE on face; 55201, A 23 (?) inside cover along with scratched date and initials (11-23-69 B B-?); MODELé DƒPOSƒ +No 102+ 55201 and other marks inside.
