Description
This is an 1820s-1830s Dorchester Guards painted tin canteen from either Massachusetts or Maryland. The canteen shows the stenciled letters D.G. and has a six pointed star painted on its reverse.
VINTAGE:Circa 1820s-1920s.
SIZE:Approximately 4-5/16" in diameter (stopper neck is 9/16" long) and 1-3/16" in thickness.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Painted tin, cork.
ATTACHMENT:Three brackets along edge of canteen for attaching to strap.
MARKINGS:None.

CONDITION:6 (Fine+): The canteen is in used condition, with a shallow dent in the star and assorted pit marks. Most of the painted areas are intact and there is only a small bit of the cork missing.
