Description
This is a World War II Russian Medal for Service in Battle (also known as the Medal for Military Merit). The award was instituted in 1938, and can be bestowed upon military personnel or civilians, Soviet and non-Soviet alike. The medallion shows two crossed rifles and is numbered on reverse. It hangs from a post-1943 ribbon mount in gray and yellow.
VINTAGE:Circa World War II.
SIZE:Approximately 3-7/16" in height and 1-7/8" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Plated brass, enamel, silk.
ATTACHMENT:Suspension ring, ribbon, horizontal safety-style pin.
