ARTIFACT:

This is a USS Marlin Commissioned at Portsmouth, N.H. LT Sharp, USN Commanding 205, 1 August 1941" Postal Cover in red ink. Courtesy of www.hazegray.org: The first Marlin (SS-205), an experimental submarine, was laid down by Portsmouth Navy Yard, Portsmouth, NH., 23 May 1940; launched 29 January 1941, sponsored by Mrs. John D. Wainwright, and commissioned 1 August 1941, Lt. George A. Sharp in command.

Circa August 1, 1941 .

SIZE:

About 6-1/2" in width by 3-3/4" in height.
