ARTIFACT: This is a very rare World War II United States of America Merchant Marine lapel badge given to merchant marines who had been aboard a torpedoed ship. The badge is a horizontal torpedo with a blue stripe along the top showing a "V" for Victory with the word "TORPEDOED" below, also in blue.

VINTAGE: Circa World War II.

SIZE: About 1 -1/8" in width by 3/16" in height.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Sterling silver with hard-fired blue enamel with sterling silver pin.

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal pin with drop-in locking catch.

MARKINGS: Mark showing that pin was made by a union, which was important to the merchant mariners, as they were all in unions.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a large collection of United States of America Merchant Marine items which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VGEX07 LCGEX SCGEX2/11

CONDITION: 9 (Excellent&emdash;Near Mint): Virtually no wear, very slight tarnish on fin.
