Description
Wonderful WWII United States Army Pigeon Corps Message Capsule with original owner's information written inside, along with his 1943 vehicle tag. The capsule is clear celluloid and reads: "PG - 67", it screws open to receive the message and inside the paper reads: "OTTO MEYER CIVILIAN EMPLOYEE IN CHARGE OF ALL PIGEONS AT FORT MONMOUTH - N.J. HOME 420 RIVER ROAD FAIRHAVEN, N.J." The top of the capsule features a canvas strap with a snap closure for wear by the pigeon. The oval vehicle tag is mounted on a wooden stand and reads: "FORT MONMOUTH 6749 1943 NEW JERSEY" and shows crossed signal insignia in red and white painted detail.
