ARTIFACT:
This is a World War I United States Air Service enlisted man tunic for the 657th Aero Squadron. The tunic has two collar insignia, and two patches with two chevron insignia, all on wool.
VINTAGE:
Circa World War I.
SIZE:
No tag: approximately 17" armpit to armpit and 27-1/2" long from shoulder to hem.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Wool, cotton lining, plated brass collar insignia and buttons, wool patches embroidered in cotton/silk threads (one partially in bullion threads as well).
ATTACHMENT:
Buttons and one hook-and-eye closure at collar, single screw posts with disc backings on collar insignia.

None.

CONDITION:
6+ (Fine-Very Fine): The tunic has a small area of light discoloration on the upper lining and some small rips in the lining as well. There are some small scattered moth holes and the left pocket has come mostly unstitched at the bottom. Some repairs have been done to the back of the tunic.
