Description
WWI Imperial German 171st Artillery Regiment soldier's match safe. The front features a framed, decorated celluloid embellishment that depicts a wreath of laurel and oak leaves joined by a yellow ribbon and the center of the wreath shows the regiment number "171". There are gold stars at the top left and right and below the wreath it reads: "Mein Regiment, Mein Vaterland, Fur dick steh..lch Mit Herz und Hand". The match safe looks like it spent some time in the trenches and the safe still has the string the US Doughboy used to hang his souvenir of the Great War on the wall of his work room.
