Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a wonderful and rare World War II shoulder patch for the United States Army Air Forces 549th Night Fighter Squadron. The 549th was attached to the 7th Fighter Wing, 7th Fighter Command, United States Forces Middle Pacific. The 549th was activated in April of 1944 and flew P-61s. The squadron was deactivated in February 1947 after a post-war stay in Iwo Jima and then one year in Guam. The patch is in painted leather, and shows a bat with lightning bolts coming out of his eyes.

Circa World War II.

SIZE:

Approximately 5" in diameter.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Painted leather, clear glossy finish.
