ARTIFACT:
This is a wonderful modernist Native American belt buckle in sterling silver, lapis lazuli, and red coral by Washoe - Maidu Native American Artist Alan Wallace. The buckle is signed on reverse: A. Wallace, nd has Alan's unique maker mark. The design is quite geometric with many small recessed squares and one single large rectangular red coral cabochon framed in on three sides by borders of mixed bright blue lapis lazuli and red coral.
VINTAGE:
Circa 1980's.
SIZE:
Approximately 3" in length and 2" in height. The buckle weighs 2.8 ounces, or 79.6 grams, or 51.1 pennyweight.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Sterling silver, lapis lazuli, coral.
ATTACHMENT:
Swiveling belt loop and prong.
MARKINGS:
A WALLACE maker mark STERLING.
