ARTIFACT: Wonderful late 19th century German medical student skull stein by Saxony maker Potschappel. The lidded stein is beautifully sculpted and intricately painted with contour and shadowing details showing high-gloss glaze accents on the teeth. The right side of the reverse of the skull reads: "_0, 5 L.” along the top. The lid is fashioned out of pewter and stone and the base of the stein shows a maker’s mark painted in green.

VINTAGE: Circa late 19th century

SIZE: Approximately 4-3/4” tall x 6-1/2” wide 3-1/4” (top diameter) x 3-1/2” bottom diameter

CONSTRUCTION/MATERIALS: Ceramic, pewter, paint, glaze, stone

ATTACHMENT: Handle, hinged lid

MARKINGS: Maker’s mark on bottom
