ARTIFACT: This is a wonderful large Chinese Dadao single-edged sword. The sword dates from the Boxer Rebellion period. The Boxer Rebellion afflicted China from 1898 through 1901, ushering in atrocities and acts of aggression perpetrated by and against Chinese nationalists tired of foreign influence and promoters of Christianity. Dadao simply means "big knife" in Chinese. The dadao's broad and deadly blade made it popular with non-military trained wielders and executioners.

VINTAGE: Circa 1898-1901.

SIZE: Overall: approximately 38" in length and 4-3/4" in width; blade only: 23-1/2" by 3-3/4" (at widest part).

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Steel, brass, leather-wrapped hilt and grip.

ATTACHMENT: None.

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a Chinese militaria collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VCBEX12 LFGEX6/12 SGJJX2/13

CONDITION: 7 (Very Fine): The sword shows some areas of light to moderate wear.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
