ARTIFACT: This is a circa 1910s or 1920s Fire Cracker Mortar toy by Kilgore. With a painted cast iron barrel body, three stubby legs and a removable rubber ball top, the toy was designed as a receptacle for a small firecracker. The firecracker would be inserted and lit through the hole near the bottom of the mortar. The ball, which hopefully had already been placed on top, would then blast away! The toy has the old Circle K Kilgore maker's mark on the bottom.

VINTAGE: Circa 1910s – 1920s.

SIZE: Approximately 3-1/16" in height (when ball is sitting in barrel) and 1-5/8" in diameter.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Painted cast iron, rubber ball.

ATTACHMENT: Ball is removable.

MARKINGS: FIRE CRACKER MORTAR and K within circle (Kilgore Circle K mark) on bottom.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a toy collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VAJX12 LHEX11/12 SLFJX8/14 SFJX01/20

CONDITION: 6- (Fine): The toy has areas of moderate wear and some rusting, and still has its original ball.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
