This is a Wonderful 1870's Old West Constable Shield Badge with Circus Lettering.
This is one of the nicest "stock" type Constable badges that I have had.
The "On the slant" CONSTABLE is always a great look, but the Circus Style Lettering really takes this one over the top.
Super-early 3-piece brass findings, with great patina on back. A little brighter on front, as with some early badges like this, the front-only was plated over with a brighter nickel for a bit more shine.
A nice medium sized badge at approximately: 2-1/8" in height x 1-3/4" in width, it holds its own when placed with other Old West Badges.
1870's.
