ARTIFACT:
This is a well-used late WWI "Issue" Imperial Prussian Observer Badge in silver plated tombak. Unmarked, but by Juncker, Type 5. The badge has a real "been there" look, with some light scratches to the enameled center, and a missing cross at top. It is possible that the Observer himself could have broken the cross off the top of the badge, in protest to the Imperial German ties to the Papacy in Rome, or perhaps because he was of Jewish heritage. Unfortunately, we will never know the complete story, as the identity of the original owner of this badge has been lost to time. Still a great addition to any WWI Aviation collection.
VINTAGE:
Circa late WWI, 1918.
SIZE:
Approximately 2-7/8" in height x 1-3/4" in width.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Enameled, silver-plated Tombak.
ATTACHMENT:
Vertical T Pin with open C catch.

N/A
ITEM NOTES:
This is from a Prussian militaria collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VCJJX17 LIGEX12/18 SLABGEX02/10/23 SABGEX07/13/23
CONDITION:
5- (Very Good+): The badge shows minor to moderate wear, scratches to enamel at center, overall very good+ condition, would grade higher except for the fact that the cross has been broken off the top of the crown.
