ARTIFACT:
This is a great, classic circa 1950s Howard Johnsons award for five years of service. The Howard Johnson reataurant chain originated in 1925 in Quincy, Massachusetts, and their motor lodges followed in 1954. The award is an enameled tie bar with the HoJos logo at center. The gold-filled tie bar was made by Balfour.
VINTAGE:
Circa 1950s.
SIZE:
Approximately 3/4 in height and 1-3/4 in width.
CONSTRUCTION/MATERIALS:
Gold-filled brass, enamel.
ATTACHMENT:
Squeeze clip.
MARKINGS:
BALFOUR 12-KT (12 karat) GF (gold filled).
