ARTIFACT: This is a Thai-made United States Air Force patch for the "River Rats". The "River Rats" were formally established in 1969, and the nickname stands for the Red River Valley Fighter Pilots Association. The group was set up to appreciate inter-service cooperation, especially between the airmen from the Navy, Marines and Air Force who ran missions over the Red River Valley region of North Vietnam. The patch is badge-shaped and shows a red river and a star and reads RIVER RATS.

VINTAGE: Circa Vietnam War.

SIZE: About 3-5/8" in height and 3-3/8" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Fully embroidered black patch with red, white and yellow cotton/silk/polyester threads.

ATTACHMENT: None.

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a United States Air Force collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. TRAJX99 LHEX

CONDITION: 7+ (Very Fine+): The patch shows slight wear and some minor fraying at edge.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
