ARTIFACT:
Very rare, reportedly 1st issue circa 1880's Cook County, Illinois Deputy Sheriff badge. The five point star shaped badge reads: "DEPUTY SHERIFF COOK CO." in black detailed lettering. The reverse shows great patina and age on the reverse of this minty badge and no saddle on the safety pin points to early construction.

Nickel plated nickel, black paint, brass pin
ATTACHMENT:
Vertical safety style pin with 'C' type catch.

9- (Excellent+): The badge is in minty condition showing minor surface wear, much of the nickel plating remains intact, handsome patina and age to reverse.
