ARTIFACT: This is a squadron patch for the United States 569th Bomb Squadron, 390th Bomb Group, 8th Air Force, which participated in Big Week, D-Day, and the Battle of the Bulge. The patch was originally worn by Tsgt. "Red" Caspar of the B-17 unit, who flew 17 missions over Germany. The patch shows a bear throwing a missile form a cloud.

VINTAGE: Circa World War II.

SIZE: Approximately 6-1/8" in height 5-1/8" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Painted leather, felt, paper backing.

ATTACHMENT: N/A.

MARKINGS: Typewritten label explaining provenance.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a United States Air Force collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VBEJX08 LFJJX2/11

CONDITION: 7- (Very Fine-): The patch shows some moderate wear and areas of light discoloration; backing has partially come off in spots.
